there’s a man on the street in his coat & bare feet and the cold gnaws away at his ears found a place to sleep on a quiet street found a home for Christmas this year people walking on by let him stay where he lies they’ve got bigger things left to fear disappointed and sad they’re angry, they’re mad to be home for Christmas this year And there’s presents to wrap And stockings to hang And a tree that’s still naked of lights And there’s no place to go But the same house they know Christmas Eve, just like any old night it’s strange to say gonna be that way we’ve all had a hell of a year but with somewhere to go and a roof for the snow I’ve a home for Christmas this year I’ll be glad for Christmas this year

oh how does one celebrate Hannukah? you can do it however you wanna, 'cause for eight crazy nights by the pale candle light the festival goes on & on, it does......... last year, I remember sometime in mid-December we bought a pack of candles and a bag of chocolate coins and we sang a song so happily 'bout Judah and the Maccabees that rock of ages rolls along when everybody joins so don your warmest sweaters and raise your dreidels high we'll unwrap all our presents till the final candle dies the wax will melt, we'll eat our gelt and do it all again we don't know how to spell it, no, but we love it just the same the miracle of lights, I know, was many oh-so-many years ago the Seleucids had been run off and oil was running short but somehow it stayed burning bright for seven days and one more night the Maccabees fell on their knees "Hallelujah, praise the Lord" [chorus] so you can keep your Christmas Trees your Wise Men and Nativities Mariah Carey's voice is nice but I'm sick of that song I'll stick to my menorahs, son, and count the candles, eight to one eat lots of latkes, doughnuts, and sing merrily along [chorus]
